After a long wait by users, Trenes Argentinos has confirmed the launch of the 'pet friendly' service for long-distance trains. This measure will be implemented gradually during the first week of March 2026, allowing the transport of dogs and cats under strict safety and coexistence rules. According to the Argentine News Agency, the initiative is limited to 'point-to-point' travel, which prevents the animal from getting off at intermediate stations. The possibility of traveling with pets will begin on the following dates depending on the route: Buenos Aires – Rosario: From Sunday, March 1. Buenos Aires – Junín: From Monday, March 2. Buenos Aires – Bragado: From Tuesday, March 3. Buenos Aires – Mar del Plata: From Tuesday, March 3. How much does it cost to travel with pets? The ticket price for a pet on the Mar del Plata service has been set at $77,500. To this value, the regular passenger ticket prices must be added: Ticket to Mar del Plata (First Class): $32,000. Ticket to Mar del Plata (Pullman): $38,000. (Remember that purchasing online comes with a 10% discount). Mandatory requirements and conditions To prevent boarding rejection without the right to a refund, owners must comply with the following: Carrier: The animal must travel in a container with a maximum base size of 48 cm x 45 cm. The passenger must check in at the pre-boarding area between two hours and 45 minutes before departure. Documentation: Valid health documentation and the elements required by the company are necessary. Limitation: Only one pet per adult passenger is allowed.
